Virtual Production CoLab

Manitoba's most ambitious virtual production training project ever.

How it

works.

Let’s say it right off the top - this is a different type of training course. We think the best way to learn virtual production is by actually doing it. That means you will be working in a small team to create a small scene from start to finish at our new facility StudioLab xR.

Our job will be to provide you with all the support you need to do this. From world-class mentorship, digital assets, physical props, actors, cameras and lights, and everything else in between.

We want you to focus on the learning and creation. The only thing we ask from you is to come in with a growth mindset and positive attitude. Let’s go!

01
Step

Teamwork

We will begin creating small teams once all the submissions are processed and confirmed. We will ensure a complementary mix of skills and experience among the participants. These teams will then begin creating their scene under the mentorship of Fish Flight Entertainment.

This mentorship will occur with a live-kick-off session and then through a series of virtual sessions and on the Discord platform.

Step

Meet Your Mentors

Fish Flight Entertainment

Their experience spans the gamut of TV, Film and Gaming. Now, we focus on Gaming work because we believe that immersion and interactivity are the future of entertainment.

03
Step

Preparing for the Shoot

Teams will continue to work with the mentors from Fish Flight to ensure they are prepared for an efficient day on set. To determine camera placement and blocking, pre-visualization and technical visualization within Unreal Engine will be demonstrated.

From there, shot lists will be created, and all the final details will be handled.

04
Step

Preparing for the Shoot

We finally get to set, and now it’s time to make it all happen and shoot your scene! This should be the fun part as we learn how to blend our worlds together and tell a story with this new technology.

Teams will have one full shooting day at StudioLab xR and will work with Fish Flight mentors in person to get their pages done.
